What's a good clone of Mortal Kombat?

My younger brother by two years is looking into buying a copy of one of the Mortal Kombat games, probably 'Deception'. I'm not particularly fond of the idea, mainly because I would be rather embarred to have a game with an M rating around the house. I'm not particularly squeemish about the blood or anything, but the prospect of coming home from school and seeing him playing an exceptionally violent game doesn't appeal to me. My parents are involved in this discussion, too, since 13-year old Danny isn't allowed to buy the game on his own, of course. I cannot veto him totally, but I would like to find and suggest an alternative fighting game clone of Mortal Kombat. The only systems we have are a Gamecube and our 2004 PC, which runs relatively well. Any ideas?
