Most probably we would not be here today. Fire gave them the possibility to stock meat by drying it, apart from allowing them to cook it and thus digest greater quantities, which gave them more strength and better odds for survival. It was also of primary importance to keep them warm, the babies most of all, and get through harsh climate changes and very cold winters. Another great advantage was that fire kept the wild animals away, giving them the occasion for rest at night, which otherwise they would have lacked.
