Games will not load from any Java-based game sites, such as games.com, pogo.com, and yahoo games.?

It will go as far as the part where the game is supposed to load but that is where it stops and I will typically get some kind of error, I have tried disabling Norton, and that did NOT work. I have also tried several browsers and the same problem. I remember one time I had a problem where it would not connect to any page and something was wrong with my L-something file/server thing....I cannot remember what it was called, and hope somebody does cause I think that could be my problem again...it was like a browser hijack and hijackthis had referred me to this site to download a program from.
